Product Description
Horace Andy, the supreme singer with a beautiful falsetto and exceptional melodic sense! Following his masterpiece 'Midnight Rocker', which The Guardian has tentatively ranked as the best album of the year, comes 'Midnight Scorchers', a sound system version! Music is a wonderful thing because it can inspire people. Shallow music cannot. Only by pouring your heart and soul into it and putting all your energy into it can you create something that attacks you from the speakers. And when you feel that exhilaration, you have achieved something - Adrian Sherwood. Horace Andy, the legendary singer who became beloved by reggae fans around the world with numerous masterpieces such as "Skylarking" and "Money Money," produced in the 70s and 80s on labels such as Studio One and Wackies. Since the 1990s, Horace Andy has made a significant impact on the non-reggae scene by participating in Massive Attack's work, appearing on all of their studio albums and consistently serving as a key member supporting their tours, captivating a wide range of music fans. His album "Midnight Rocker," produced by Adrian Sherwood and released on On-U Sound, was hailed by the media and fans as a new Horace Andy masterpiece, and now a "sound system" version of it, "Midnight Scorchers," has been announced. Horace Andy has been a beloved figure throughout his music career spanning over 50 years, but "Midnight Rocker," an album meticulously crafted over several years by producer Adrian Sherwood and Horace himself, was released in early 2022, bringing this great singer back to the forefront as an active artist. Since its release, the album has been widely praised, with The Guardian listing it as their top album of the year to date and praising it as a masterpiece of his mature period. The album "Midnight Scorchers" pushes the narrative even further with a reworking in a dubplate style (featuring vocals from the Lone Ranger and Daddy Freddie). It includes tracks given a chance to shine in this new set, and fresh mixes that soar with impressive arrangements and rhythms. Just as the songs have been reconstructed, the artwork has also been reimagined in a street-style graffiti look, with the help of award-winning animator Rough Mercy, who has worked with Gorillaz, Earl Sweatshirt, and Thom Yorke. His psychedelic and colorful visuals stand out in the music video for the first single, "Feverish," giving a vivid reimagining of Horace Andy's Studio One classic. "Midnight Scorchers" is a must-listen for hardcore reggae fans and all music lovers alike. The Japanese CD release includes liner notes and bonus tracks. TRACK LIST : 01. Come After Midnight 02.
