Now a duo consisting of Ian Williams, who handles keyboards, guitar, and electronics, and John Staneer on drums, they have enlisted hitmaker Chris Tablon, who has worked with Beyonc?, Erykah Badu, and The Strokes, for production and mixing, and have completed their unconventional fourth original album in four years, packed with information to the point of explosion. The lead single, "Titanium 2 Step," features Sal Principalato of Liquid Liquid, a band that stood out even within the no wave scene, on vocals. Other notable collaborators include Yes's original vocalist, Jon Anderson; Taiwanese experimental rock band Luochia Chuangsuan WWWW; New York-based female artist Xenia Rubinos, known for her genre-less style; underground hip-hop unit Shabazz Palaces; Tune-Yards, known for their lo-fi, organic performances and experimental sounds; and, as a bonus track included only on the Japanese edition, Yuta Sumiyoshi of the taiko drumming group Kodo?a collection of unique talents that could only be found in Battles.
