The long-awaited complete edition allows you to enjoy the full scope of a soulful and electrifying live performance by a star-studded lineup! This is the complete edition of the live masterpiece \"At the Five Spot Cafe,\" recorded by Kenny Burrell with Art Blakey, Tina Brooks, and others at the Five Spot Cafe in New York on August 25, 1959, with the addition of six previously unreleased tracks recorded on the same day. This is the latest release in Blue Note's \"Tone Poet\" series of analog reissues, which they have been actively developing in recent years. Kenny Burrell made his first live recording as a leader at the legendary jazz club, The Five Spot Cafe, in New York on August 25, 1959. Having already earned high acclaim for his work on Blue Note at the time, the band he assembled for this live performance featured a top-notch lineup of musicians: Art Blakey (drums), Tina Brooks (tenor saxophone), Bobby Timmons (piano), Roland Hanna (piano), and Ben Tucker (bass). The performance, delivered in a relaxed atmosphere throughout, was soulful and electrifying, and remains one of Burrell's representative works, considered a masterpiece of hard bop. The remastering was handled by Kevin Gray, a master who has worked on the Tone Poet series. Cutting and remastering were done from the original master tapes, resulting in a natural and warm sound that has been highly praised in previous reissues, giving the listener the experience of listening to the analog tape itself. The booklet is also worth checking out, as it contains a wealth of content, including previously unpublished photographs by Francis Wolff, an insightful essay by Sid Schwartz, and an interview in which Kenny Burrell himself reflects on that time with Blue Note president Don Was. The Japanese edition will be released in two formats: a 2-disc UHQCD set and an SHM-spec single-layer SACD. Both will include a translation of the booklet. Regarding the album, Kenny Burrell said, \"The Five Spot was a real jazz club. It was fun to play there. You knew the audience knew jazz. They knew jazz musicians, and a certain level of skill was expected of the musicians who played there. I was happy to be there as a musician.\" Joe Hurley, producer of the Tone Poet series, also commented on the album, saying, \"This is one of my favorite live jazz albums since I heard it in college over 50 years ago. It has a very deep and relaxed atmosphere, and you can tell that the members clearly know each other's playing very well. I always wished I could have been there. When I cut this album and listened to the master, I felt like my wish had come true. What was even better was that there were so many amazing tracks that I had never heard before! Let's go back to August 25, 1959, and enjoy a wonderful jazz night at the Five Spot Cafe in New York!\" Personnel: Tina Brooks (ts), Kenny Burrell (g), Bobby Timmons (p), Roland Hanna (p on 2, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10), Ben Tucker (b), Art Blakey (ds) Live recording on August 25, 1959 at the Five Spot Cafe, New York.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"TOKYO JAPAN CD SHOP","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53227668046133,"sku":"4988031755358","price":8300.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/1011\/5966\/5973\/files\/41w_D41lMQL._AC.jpg?v=1785396646","url":"https:\/\/tokyojapancdshop.com\/products\/4988031755358","provider":"TOKYO JAPAN CD SHOP","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
