At a young age, he became the principal guest conductor of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, and has since performed with top orchestras in Europe and the United States, including the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Helsinki Philharmonic, and the Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra, receiving high praise for all of them and achieving great success, being described as \"the emergence of a once-in-a-generation genius conductor.\" The Decca label signed an exclusive contract with M?kel? last year. This was the first exclusive contract with a conductor in 40 years, since Riccardo Chailly, and it became a major topic of conversation in the classical music world. In 2020, at the young age of 24, he became the principal conductor of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra in Norway, and from the following 2021 season, he also became the music director of the prestigious Orchestre de Paris, which has been mentored by many renowned conductors. Furthermore, he is scheduled to take on the role of principal conductor of the prestigious Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in the Netherlands on a 10-year contract starting in 2027. He already conducts the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra in Japan. His two performances in June of this year were so highly anticipated that tickets sold out instantly. He delivered overwhelming performances of Mahler's Symphony No. 6 \"Tragic\" and Shostakovich's Symphony No. 7, impressing Japanese fans. His tour of Japan with the Orchestre de Paris in October will include six performances nationwide.
