This 2-CD set, featuring many previously unknown and unreleased recordings of Charlie Parker, one of the creators of modern jazz, during his time in LA, is being released in Japan on UHQCD! Parker primarily worked in his birthplace of Kansas City, New York where he passed away, and LA, which he visited four times during his short life. This work compiles previously unknown and rare recordings made during three of those tours. It includes \"How High the Moon\" and \"Theme from 52nd Street,\" which he performed with Dizzy Gillespie at the legendary jazz club Billy Berg's in Hollywood in 1945, as well as three previously unknown performances from the \"Jazz at the Philharmonic\" concert held at the Shrine Auditorium in 1948. Also noteworthy is the inclusion of the complete recordings from the infamous \"Naked Party\" held by artist Jireija Zossian at a ranch in Altadena in July 1952. Recording engineer Doug Benson has restored these recordings as faithfully as possible. The booklet includes an extensive essay by producer John Burton about the circumstances surrounding these recordings (translation included in the Japanese edition) and rare photographs of Bird during her time in Los Angeles. Outside of Japan, this is a limited release exclusively at RSD shops as a Record Store Day item. The artwork used on the jacket is Jireija Zossian's 1952 work \"Orchestra\". *Please note that because the original master is very old, the tape is in poor condition due to age-related deterioration, and there are parts throughout the recording that are difficult to listen to. As this is a very rare sound source currently available, we are providing it in its original state using the master provided by the original manufacturer.
