This legendary work, with music by Geinoh Yamashirogumi (leader: Shoji Yamashiro), created a unique, dense, and stateless sound that continues to have a profound influence both domestically and internationally. Then, in 2016, it was released digitally in ultra-high-resolution audio (Hyper-Sonic Hi-Res \"Symphonic Suite AKIRA 2016\"), and in 2017, an analog record based on that Ultra-Deep Hyper-Hi-Res audio, \"Akira - Symphonic Suite (Symphonic Suite AKIRA),\" was released by Milan Records in the United States. In 2020, more than 30 years after its production, the \"AKIRA 4K Remaster Set,\" featuring a 4K remaster and a 5.1ch sound remix under the direction of music director Shoji Yamashiro, was released on Blu-ray, and the 4K remastered version was also released in theaters. In 2022, \"OTOMO THE COMPLETE WORKS\" (Kodansha), a complete collection planned and produced by Katsuhiro Otomo himself, was published. Within this collection, the \"AKIRA REMIX,\" a remix of AKIRA that was only played at the \"Katsuhiro Otomo Complete Works AKIRA Cel Exhibition\" held at Ikebukuro MixaLive Tokyo and Osaka Parco Gallery in August and October 2023, was commercialized for the first time. This \"AKIRA\" remix, produced by Katsuhiro Otomo himself, features remixes by three musicians selected by Otomo himself: Makoto Kubota, Yasuharu Konishi, and Kuniaki Haishima.
