The album includes 11 tracks from recordings and live performances of Sunny Terry \u0026amp; Brownie McGee that they listened to in California when they were teenagers. Taj Mahal and Ry Cooder originally joined forces in 1965, forming The Rising Suns when Cooder was just 17 years old. The band signed with Columbia Records, but no album was released, and the group disbanded a year later. Recording sessions from the 1960s were widely released as bootlegs, finally receiving an official release in 1992. Cooder then participated in Taj Mahal's self-titled solo debut album in 1968. The new album, \"Get On Board,\" marks the first time Taj Mahal and Ry Cooder have recorded together since then. Harmonica player Sunny Terry and guitarist Brownie McGee, both from the southeastern United States, were active not only as solo artists but also in collaborations with some of the most famous musicians of the time.
