A fresh performance in new DSD format, accompanied by a moving true story reading. March 12, 2019 marked the 20th anniversary of the death of Yehudi Menuhin, the violinist of the century. Memories of how he was featured in newspapers and on television at the time, moving many people, come flooding back. In 1951, there was a boy who lost his family in the war and lived alone with his mother. One day, the boy learned that the world-renowned violinist Menuhin would be performing in Japan. To hear the concert, the boy saved money little by little from his daily earnings as a shoeshine boy. An unexpected miracle awaited the boy who continued to live diligently with hope even in the face of adversity. \"The Boy and the Violin\" is a story based on the true story of how Menuhin gave a violin to a shoeshine boy during his performance in Japan in 1951, shortly after the end of the war. This release features a precious 35-minute reading of the story, recorded by author Ippei Taki himself on tape before the book's publication, along with a selection of famous violin pieces arranged in the same order as the program from the Sasebo concert the boy might have heard. The audio was newly mastered in 2019 from the original master using DSD 11.2MHz. The jacket illustration was created by the renowned illustrator Akira Uno.
