He once worked in Brooklyn, New York (at one point as a support drummer for School of Seven Bells), but he returned to his hometown of Michigan and has been in a studio in Detroit, close to his family home in Ann Arbor, for about four years now. There, he immersed himself in the deep record culture community, drawing inspiration from many people in the scene, broadening his perspective, and absorbing and assimilating diverse styles to create this album. The opening track, \"Detroit Part II,\" is a sequel to \"Detroit Part 1\" from his previous album, and its sound connects his past approach with his current style. Based on a techno-house beat, it crossfades with mellow and sensual jazz flavors such as Rhodes and saxophone. The following track, \"Barry White,\" features rap by ZelooperZ, a Detroit hip-hop artist who was formerly a member of Danny Brown's Bruiser Brigade and is currently working on a side project called ZGTO with Shigeto. He previously worked as a support drummer for School of Seven Bells, but now focuses on his solo career. He aspired to be a jazz drummer from a young age, but after listening to Squarepusher, recommended by a friend, he discovered electronic music and began making tracks. After releasing works on the digital label Moodgadget, he signed with the prestigious Ghostly International. To date, he has released four EPs (including remix albums), one mini-album, and two full-length albums. In recent years, he has toured with numerous artists such as Star Slinger, Mount Kimbie, Matthewdavid, Bonobo, and Tycho, participated in a jazz quartet, and engaged in a wide range of activities including numerous remixes, establishing himself as a key figure in the beat and electronic music scene. His aggressive performances, utilizing electronics and live drums, have also been widely praised.
