This CD reissue is exclusive to Japan, and as a bonus, it includes 8 previously unreleased archive tracks recorded in 1999! A timeless masterpiece that blends intelligence and romanticism at a high level, it deserves even more recognition now. This is the acclaimed debut album released in 2001 by Hefty Records by the electronica unit formed in 1999 by high school friends Joshua Eustis and Charles Cooper (sadly passed away in 2009). Highly acclaimed since its release, it has been considered a landmark of 2000s electronica\/IDM, but the CD had been out of print (though it was trading at high prices online). Then, in 2016, the 15th anniversary of its release, a reissue was finally announced. Moreover, eight previously unreleased archive tracks, recorded in 1999, were included as bonus tracks. In the late 90s, while living in New Orleans, they were influenced by Detroit house, Chicago house, and British electronica artists such as Autechre, Aphex Twin, and Jega, which led them to embrace electronic music. They spent about a year recording this album in their bedroom at River Bend in New Orleans. It was then released by Chicago's Hefty Records, which reigned as one of the important labels for US experimental, post-rock, and electronica at the time. Initially, they had in mind making hard club music, but it turned out to be something completely different. Delicate Rhodes and guitar phrases are interwoven with cut-ups created by digital rhythm programming, and fused with a superb balance of floating effects and glitch noise. Irregular and rugged yet sentimental melodies emerge, resulting in extremely romantic melodic IDM. This album is a cornerstone of modern electronic music and a landmark of 2000s electronica. Furthermore, this reissue includes eight previously unreleased archive tracks recorded in 1999 as bonus material. The quality is on par with the original, making it a must-listen not only for long-time fans but for all electronica listeners. After Charles's death, Joshua had not been active with Telefon Tel Aviv, but they have finally reunited this year. It is expected that they will be actively working in the future. We hope that many people will take this opportunity to listen to this album, which marked their starting point. About the Artists: Formed in 1999 in New Orleans, USA, by Charles Cooper and Joshua Eustis, who met through high school friends. At the time, the two were in separate bands, with Charles playing punk and Joshua playing industrial music. Before releasing their album, they gained attention for contributing two tracks to \"Things Falling Apart,\" a remix album of Nine Inch Nails' \"The Fragile.\" They then signed with Chicago's Hefty Records. They also moved their base to Chicago and released their first album, \"Fahrenheit Fair Enough,\" in 2001. The following year, 2002, they released the EP \"Immediate Action #8\" with guest vocals by Lindsay Anderson. In 2004, they released their second album, \"Map Of What Is Effortless.\" In 2007, they released \"Remixes Compiled,\" a compilation of remixes, and in 2009, they released their third album, \"Immolate Yourself,\" on January 20th through Ellen Allien's popular Berlin label BPitch Control. However, on January 27th, they revealed on MySpace that Charles Cooper had passed away on January 22nd. After that, Joshua, now a solo artist, did not continue activities with Telefon Tel Aviv and worked on solo projects such as Sons of Magdalene, but they reunited in 2016 and have been performing live. Then, in May 2017, they released new music for the first time in eight years.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"TOKYO JAPAN CD SHOP","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53226914775349,"sku":"4941135452837","price":3400.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/1011\/5966\/5973\/files\/51fXTbpnpML._AC.jpg?v=1785373349","url":"https:\/\/tokyojapancdshop.com\/products\/4941135452837","provider":"TOKYO JAPAN CD SHOP","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
