In the 1960s, there were differences in album content between EMI in the UK and Capitol in the US. Capitol releases prioritized new songs while also including tracks from previous albums. This editing policy, which disregarded the Beatles' intentions and concepts, continued until the release of 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band,' and some albums, like the US version of 'Rubber Soul,' had different track listings despite simultaneous releases in the UK and US. However, recent research has led fans to discover unexpected charms, such as different mixes included compared to the UK version. In particular, the 1966 album \"Yesterday and Today,\" which caused a recall controversy as the \"Butcher Cover,\" has become one of the most sought-after collector's items among the Beatles' Capitol Records releases, but even here, rare mixes exist. Moreover, there are different mixes for both mono and stereo. Here, we have managed to capture the original masters. From the \"Butcher Cover\" to the \"Trunk Cover,\" we are now able to hear recordings that you can only hear if you acquire the mono and stereo LP records. And unfortunately, the reproduction CD released by Apple and Capitol in 2014 does not use the original mixes (sob). In particular, three tracks from the master sent to the US a month and a half earlier than the album \"Revolver,\" which was still in production, have different mixes. \"I'm Only Sleeping\" has a reversed guitar, a mix unique to the US version that differs from both the UK stereo and mono versions. \"Dr. Robert\" is also a mono mix where the maracas continue to shake during the \"Well, well\" chorus, and John mutters \"OK, FAB\" after the performance. On the stereo version, Capitol Records forcibly recorded it in pseudo-stereo, but this too has become a rare mix that remains in the world. This is the sound and album that American fans listened to on LP records in June 1966. Disc 2 includes session recordings of related songs, such as the early version (key D) and the remade version (key E) of \"And Your Bird Can Sing,\" from existing rare takes. \"Daytripper,\" for example, also includes the original UK mix, allowing listeners to enjoy comparing the two. \"Eleanor Rigby\" is a version where Paul's vocals are not yet doubled, and this version could have easily been included in the \"three songs submitted to Capitol in advance,\" making it a pivotal version. The detailed Japanese liner notes, spanning 9,500 characters, are well worth reading, including an analysis of the Butcher cover. Amidst the ostracism that arose due to the Christ remarks, and just before the Beatles' final live tour, this release perfectly recreates the sound that American fans listened to during that frenzied era.
