From Eternal Grooves! February 11, 1963. A fateful day that changed the history of rock. On this day, the Beatles began recording their first album, \"Please Please Me,\" at EMI Abbey Road Studios. From 10 a.m., they had three 3-hour sessions, continuing until almost 11 p.m. They completed the recording of this album in just one day. A day that should be forever remembered as one of the most fruitful days in music history. From those session recordings, all 38 takes, approximately 60 minutes, have been unearthed. February 5, 1963: Doncaster\/South Yorkshire February 6, 1963: Bedford\/London suburbs February 7, 1963: Wakefield\/West Yorkshire February 8, 1963: Carlisle\/near Scottish border February 9, 1963: Sunderland\/Tyne \u0026amp; Wear (North Sea coast) February 10, 1963: Travel day February 11, 1963: Recording at EMI Studios February 12, 1963: UK tour begins from Oldham (Northwest England), with almost daily live performances continuing until April 27. By this date, the Beatles had recorded four songs in total, enough for two singles: \"Love Me Do,\" \"P.S. I Love You,\" \"Please Please Me,\" and \"Ask Me Why,\" but the recording for an album was a first-time experience for them. Moreover, amidst a whirlwind tour in the UK during the depths of winter, the recording session, which began in the morning, started with a touch of tension, and each phrase was initially awkward. However, with each take, the soul of rock and roll burst forth, transforming into a spirited performance. Producer George Martin later commented, \"What's going on with them? They're recording all day, and they just keep getting better.\" You can hear this scene in the highest master quality sound, directly mixed in stereo from the original two-channel recording. The Beatles' voices humming phrases between takes are also included uncut. Listen and feel like you're George Martin in front of your player. As you all know, the Beatles' subsequent rise to fame was remarkable. However, without a doubt, the starting point was this album, this recording session. And that was only possible because of the foundation they had built as a band through repeated live performances. During this session, even the slightest mistake by someone that might be easily overlooked would stop the performance, causing anxiety to spread and resulting in repeated retakes. Then, with Paul's spirited count, the first note rings out beautifully, and that exhilaration is contagious, resulting in the best take.
