4589767513597
THE BEATLES EMI STUDIO Sessions 1967 Vol.5 [First Edition Digipak] Japan Music CD

Product Description
A chronological collection of studio work, 1967 Part 5. The final installment in the series. 'Magical Mystery Tour' completed! Also includes a Christmas song for the fan club. The 11th installment of the popular Eternal Grooves Beatles session recording collection takes us to the final chapter of the 'Magical Mystery Tour' sessions. While the previous installment (EGDR-0028) covered up to the September 26th recording where they experimented with "Fool on the Hill," this installment includes recordings from the overdubbing of "I Am the Walrus" the following day. Strings based on George Martin's score are overdubbed, and the sound of the cello accentuates the unsettling atmosphere of "I Am the Walrus." Take 25 features overdubs of the chorus, including "Ho ho ho! Hi hi hi! Ha ha ha!" by Mike Sam's Singers. The seventh track is the original source material for the radio drama adaptation of Shakespeare's "King Lear," which would be effectively mixed into the album. While it was John's idea, one is impressed by the unexpected flexibility of producer George Martin in allowing it. Listening to this, one gets the feeling that John's words, "This song will still be relevant 100 years from now," are about to come true. The first instrumental number, "Flying," is the legendary 9-minute and 36-second complete version described in Mark Lewisohn's "The Beatles: The Complete Recording Sessions" (published by Shinko Music). "Your Mother Should Know," which they had been experimenting with, also returns to its roots, with organ and bass overdubbed onto the Chapel Studio version to complete it. Paul's new song, "Hello Goodbye," finally appeared on October 2nd, and was conceived as a single from the beginning. Even in this simple Take 1, featuring Paul's piano, John's organ, and Ringo Starr's drums, its pop sensibility is already evident. On October 2nd, "Fool on the Hill" was completed with flute overdubs. On November 1st, while creating the mix for the movie "Yellow Submarine," a long version of "All You Need Is Love" and a rare version of "Lucy in the Sky" featuring an animated character on vocals were produced. With "Magical Mystery Tour" now finished, on November 28th, a new song was recorded for the fan club. This was "Christmastime Is Here Again," a song long considered a legendary, unreleased masterpiece among fans. Here, you can hear the complete 5-minute and 46-second version, interwoven with John's strange cries and the members' exaggerated choruses. 1967, the year of transformation led by the Beatles?a miraculous rock year?came to a close, and this is said to be the final installment in the session series that allows you to hear their studio work. A total of 11 works. I'm tempted to go back to the beginning and listen to the legendary session on February 11, 1963 (EGDR-0018), where they completed their debut album in a single day.
