Thom Yorke listened to the live recordings from that time while co-creating 'Hamlet Hail To The Thief,' a stage production that uses a reconstructed score of 'Hail To The Thief' to create a passionate reinterpretation of Shakespeare's 'Hamlet,' which led to the release of this album. This work is a passionate arrangement of Shakespeare's \"Hamlet,\" using a reconstructed score from their 2003 production, \"Hail To The Thief.\" Rolling Stone UK described the production as \"a clear demonstration of York and his co-writers' skill, in how naturally these two worlds merge, as if they were one from the beginning.\" In the process of figuring out how to put together the stage arrangements for Shakespeare's \"Hamlet\" and \"Hail To The Thief,\" they asked to listen to live recordings from that time. They were shocked by the energy in the performance they heard, and hardly recognized it as their own. That helped them find their next step, and they decided to mix and release these live recordings (it would have been insane to keep them to themselves). It was a very cathartic process.
