Yo La Tengo, the heavyweights of the US alternative scene who are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year, released their 16th album, \"This Stupid World,\" in 2023 and performed at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL '23. They also sold out their subsequent Japanese tour of Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka, as well as an additional Tokyo show. The band, which enjoys immense popularity here in Japan, released \"Genius + Love = Yo La Tengo\" in 1996, which contains over two hours of hard-to-find recordings made between 1988 and 1995, as well as unreleased tracks including covers of The Velvet Underground, Daniel Johnston, and The Ramones, and was mastered by the legendary Greg Calbi. It has been announced that this album will be reissued for the first time in approximately 20 years and will be released on CD exclusively in Japan. This album is a double album, with the first disc containing vocal tracks and the second disc containing instrumental tracks. The first disc includes \"Evanescent Psychic Pez Drop,\" recorded in the band's practice space for a 1995 UK tour for a split single on Stereolab's label Duophonic Super; \"Demons,\" originally titled \"White Rabbit\" in 1986 and later remade for the soundtrack of the film \"I Shot Andy Warhol\"; \"Fog Over Frisco\" and \"Walking Away From You,\" both from the fan-favorite EP \"That Is Yo La Tengo\"; a cover of Wire's \"Too Late\"; a cover of John Cale's \"Hanky ??Panky Nohow\"; \"Something To Do,\" featured in the film \"A Matter of Degrees\"; and \"Ultra-Powerful Short Wave Radio Picks Up Music From,\" one of about 16 songs composed and recorded during an afternoon spent at Snack Time Studios with Judd Fair, a key figure in the US music scene. The second disc includes \"Nutricia,\" released as a track on the 'From a Motel 6' CD; \"Her Grandmother's Gift,\" \"Too Much, Part 1,\" \"Too Much, Part 2,\" \"One Self: Fish Girl,\" and \"Enough,\" all featured on the soundtrack of an animated film created by Georgia Hubley's sisters; two demos from 'Painful,' \"From A Motel 6 #2\" and \"From A Motel 6 #1\"; \"Gooseneck Problem,\" where Georgia vented her frustrations in the practice space; \"Surfin' With The Shah,\" a cover of The Urinals; \"Ecstasy Blues,\" a track from the 'Here Comes My Baby' CD; \"Blitzkrieg Bop,\" a surf-rock cover of a Ramones classic, originally contributed to a Japanese fanzine; and \"Drum,\" where Georgia vented her frustrations during the recording of 'Painful.'
