Isik Kural's new masterpiece transforms travel memories into idyllic ambient pop. Isik Kural, a composer\/songwriter with Turkish roots, built his musical foundation in his teens by strumming a nylon-string guitar and creating playful lyrics using only words and conversations he happened to overhear. This casual curiosity became the foundation for his later artistic activities and led him to study music professionally at the University of Miami, building a life centered around music. Driven by his innate curiosity, he has traveled from Helsinki to his current residence in Glasgow, and to various historically rich lands, following rhythms and ancient legends. In particular, his experience wandering through a golden world retaining traces of antiquity forms the emotional undercurrent of 'Motorcycles and Cherry Wind'. The title \"Motorcycles and Cherry Wind\" and the spirit behind this work trace back to Kural's 2022 trip to Marrakech. While observing the hustle and bustle of the city center, he was drawn not to recording facts, but to capturing fleeting sensations intertwined with sound. Listening to this work for the first time, warm memories of cities he had visited come flooding back, not as a single image, but with all the sensations. The mineral smell of the compacted earth, the feel of the village walls, the gentle October afternoon, the way the light softly illuminated the deep red fruit gathered under the heat at roadside stalls?these are the kinds of memories. Memories born during travel are not always placed on a map at the moment. However, by distancing oneself from them, new patterns can begin to emerge. In \"Motorcycles and Cherry Wind,\" Kural collects these inner traces as if gathering precious trinkets. Field recordings made on Istanbul's dolmu? (minibuses), the lingering echoes after swimming in ancient Lycia, the birdsong recorded at Bridge of Alan?he accumulates these as an inexhaustible archive, returning to them repeatedly like a seasoned collector. He meticulously selects each one, listening with renewed attention. After discovering perspectives he may have previously overlooked, he weaves these precious threads into atmospheric arrangements with intricate texture. Piano keys, guitar phrases, woodwinds, and even arrangements written using traditional notation are interwoven into layers of sound, giving the album a spiritual, almost transcendent resonance. Every track on \"Motorcycles and Cherry Wind\" is a hymn to the musicians who came before him. The melodies borrowed from them acquire new meaning and purpose each time they pass through the hands of many people. Nine musicians participated in this work, and simply listing their names and hometowns reveals a map. Gabriel Bastos (violin, viola\/Brazil), Noelia Diaz (cello\/Argentina), Giulia C (flute\/Italy), Sasko Temelkoski (bass clarinet\/North Macedonia), Teresa Castanon (clarinet\/Spain), Hannah Gobbett (clarinet\/England), Niki Yaghmaee (violin\/Germany), Ezgi Daloglu (flute\/Istanbul), Loris S. Sarid (clarinet\/Glasgow) The geographical backgrounds and cultural references of the ensembles, scattered across different locations, converge in Glasgow, forming a single shape in \"Motorcycles and Cherry Wind.\" At its center stands Kural, guiding the music to a quiet yet profound depth. Through abstract production in a modern studio, Kural keeps fragments of forgotten tradition alive, drawing the listener into a living relic?a world of yesterday sealed in the hands of today. What's more important than where it originated is the warmth that lingers there.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"TOKYO JAPAN CD SHOP","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":67980928647477,"sku":"4582561408038","price":4180.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/1011\/5966\/5973\/files\/41hnmH-SELL._AC.jpg?v=1793243041","url":"https:\/\/tokyojapancdshop.com\/products\/4582561408038","provider":"TOKYO JAPAN CD SHOP","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
