Having performed at festivals and concerts around the world, he has become one of the leading figures in the contemporary ambient\/experimental scene. In this work, he boldly incorporates noise, distortion, and guitar textures more than ever before, venturing into a new sound. The concept for \"Kin\" began with a conversation with the late Peter Rehberg, who led Editions Mego, about \"what kind of work will I make after 'Peel'?\" Production started in Nairobi in early 2021, but was interrupted following Peter Rehberg's death. Afterwards, production slowly resumed in 2022, and it took time to complete the album. As the words \"For Pita.\" written at the end of the album suggest, this work is also a work that contains deep respect and memories of him. In the opening track, \"With Trees Where We Can See,\" a warm, wavering melody slowly guides the listener into the world of the work. The following track, \"Blurred,\" is a song born from the interaction with Fennesz, who toured the US with KMRU in 2022. The sound of plucked guitar strings and shimmering, massive drones overlap, creating a beautiful yet unusual sonic space that is characteristic of Editions Mego. On the other hand, \"They Are Here\" develops into a shadowy, melancholic drone, and \"Maybe\" unfolds into a storm of euphoric electronic sounds. In \"We Are,\" sharp noise and complex rhythmic patterns clash, strongly impressing listeners with a new side of KMRU. And in the final track, \"By Absence,\" acoustic sounds and kaleidoscopic sonic palettes intertwine, closing the album and simultaneously inviting the listener to another world beyond.
