Production on this album began when he was still living in Mexico City and was later completed in New York. A sequel to his critically acclaimed debut, *Sculpturegardening*, this album blends hallucinatory modular synths with cello, acoustics, and spoken word, creating a rich sonic world where machines mimic nature and acoustic instruments merge with digital instruments. Throughout the narrative, listeners are invited to imagine a future world where nature and machines cooperate to reclaim their wild side and explore new ways of life. True to his word, he shared much of the creative process with machines, using modular generation processes to create random, improvisational moments, collaborating as both artist and observer. Most tracks were recorded in one take as live performances or improvisations, then edited and cut. Regarding the album's highlight, the 10-minute track \"Life After Humans,\" Tristan recalls: \"I forgot to record the multi-track output, but having only the stereo track left actually gave me a lot of confidence. I couldn't mix the individual elements after recording, but I think it was good that I accidentally limited myself that way.\" Along with his own voice, the album features the wonderful vocals of Mabe Fratti, a rapidly rising Guatemalan cellist and vocalist. The two met in Mexico City in 2020, where she helped Tristan learn the cello. This encounter ultimately resulted in the recordings that make up 'Sculpturegardening.' Her appearance on 'a pool, a portal' symbolizes the culmination of their creative relationship. The album's artwork features photographs by Zhang An, a photographer based in Nanjing, China.
