I want to say thank you for existing, this is a long-awaited new album from my favorite band, Plus\/Minus. It's even more flexible, poppy, smart, and a wonderful album that seems to condense the long time since their last work! The fresh guitar tones and the pleasant vocals are... what!? The cool drum phrases that make you involuntarily exclaim \"Wow!\" really make you feel excited and think, \"Plus\/Minus is the best!\" From the first time I encountered them, I've admired everything about them?the band's style, atmosphere, and the passion they put into their live performances. I want to see them live again! No, I want to see them anytime! I'm looking forward to that day! (Hisako Tabuchi) Even in the US indie scene of the 1990s, which is currently experiencing a resurgence in popularity, Versus, a renowned New York band, stood out with their melodic yet powerful guitar rock sound. Following Versus's hiatus in the early 2000s, +\/- (Plus\/Minus, commonly known as \"Puramai\") ??started as a solo project by James (Vo, G), the youngest of the core Baluyut brothers. Later, Patrick Ramos (Vo, G) and Chris Diener (D), also members of Versus, joined, and since then, +\/- has continued to operate at its own unique pace as a stable trio of multi-instrumentalists. Featuring two singer\/songwriters with contrasting personalities, James and Patrick, Puramai skillfully blends the delicate and melodic rock inherited from Versus with diverse elements such as electronics, creating a sound that is not easily confined to a single category, encompassing indie guitar, post-rock, and electronica. In Japan, they have captivated many musicians, including their close friends bloodthirsty butchers, with whom they released a cover split album. At their numerous performances in Japan since 2004, they have demonstrated an overwhelming presence with a dynamic live sound that is different from their recordings. Further Afield, their long-awaited 6th album, is their first original album in 10 years since their previous work, Jumping The Tracks. The album immediately makes a strong impression with its torrent of drum breaks in the lead single, M2, following the prelude, signaling the band's return. The experiences of each member since their last album and their 2017 Japan tour are naturally fed back into the music, resulting in an unprecedented depth and balance?a truly satisfying work that justifies their claim of being \"the best album in the band's history.\" The unprecedented level of The Smiths-esque lyricism heard in several tracks is also deeply moving. Mixing and mastering were handled by Ray Ketchem, who has worked with the reunited Versus, Guided By Voices, and Luna. Gary Olson, leader of the renowned New York band Ladybug Transistor, makes a guest appearance on trumpet, following his appearance on their 4th album, Xs On Your Eyes. This album is a Japan-only CD release (no CD release overseas). Furthermore, it includes all five tracks from their 2019 EP, \"Summer 2019: Extended Play,\" which was previously only available on CD and not released in Japan, as bonus tracks.
