Maarja produced and recorded the album almost entirely by herself in a seaside studio in Estonia, and she says, \"It feels like my first real solo album.\" She randomly placed modern modular (Eurorack) sounds, embraced the experimental possibilities of her own voice, played an old Vermona organ, and completed the album by weaving together various old and new elements. Three of the tracks feature Swiss jazz pianist\/percussionist Nicolas Stocker, who adds an important accent to the album's development. The album opens with the title track, a jazzy piece that is exquisitely pleasant with Nicolas' crisp, rain-like percussion and Maarja's etched, floating vocals and organ. The following track, \"On vaja,\" shows a slightly post-rock side with Nicolas' addictive percussion, dissonant synths that trip up frequencies, and squiggly edited vocals, all set to an unconventional yet unique rhythm. Released as their first single, \"Kutse tantsule\" (Call to Dance) features a pulsating rhythm with a looping, lullaby-like vocal performance that repeatedly asks, \"Will you come and dance with me?\", creating an atmospheric yet somewhat poppy world. \"mees, kes aina igatses\" is perhaps the closest to Maarja's previous approach, incorporating woodwind instruments and resembling a traditional Estonian village style, but updated with a gentle atmosphere and drones, incorporating harmonic structures, drawing the listener into a unique, pastoral mood that could be described as a futuristic folk song. \"vaheala valgus\" presents a weightless odyssey where organ drones and humming vocals merge, while \"subota\" showcases excellent ambient dub with layered click beats and modulated vocals. After the minimalist development of \"a feast,\" they return to \"jojobell,\" featuring Nicolas once again. Influenced by her mother, who was a choir director, she developed a love for music from a young age. She began violin lessons at age 7, studied at the Tallinn High School of Music from age 12, and then entered the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. She participated in music festivals in Estonia and throughout Europe, developing an early interest in folk music. At the age of 21, she visited India with Dutch cellist Saskia Rao de Haas and studied Hindustan music. In 2008, she returned to Estonia and decided to pursue a career in folk music, studying at the Viljandi Cultural Academy, a department of the University of Tartu. There, she encountered 78 rpm records of pre-Soviet Estonian village music and found inspiration. From 2011, she studied at Stockholm University, deepening her interest in Polish village folk music in particular. She graduated in 2014 with a Master's degree in Music. Originally studying classical music, she became devoted to folk music and established a style that assimilates traditional Estonian village style into a modern interpretation. In 2013, she debuted as a solo artist with the album \"Soolo\" and won the Artist Award at Tallinn Music Week. In 2016, after releasing her second solo album, \"Une Meeles,\" to critical acclaim, she began collaborating with Hendrik Kaljujarv (aka Ruum), who creates unique abstract electronic sounds.
