4582561391545
Voodoom Sacrificial Artefacts [MURCD044] Japan Music CD^

Product Description
This is the best-of album from VOODOOM, a "Dark Ritualistic Breakbeat Jungle" unit formed by Bong-Ra, a top breakcore artist who has been at the forefront of the scene for many years with his aggressive style incorporating metal, jazz, reggae, and rave music, and Deformer, the breakcore/jungle project of Mike Redman, who is also active as a documentary filmmaker/special effects makeup artist. The double LP album "VOODOOM," released in 2015 by the Dutch hardcore drum and bass label PRSPCT, attracted a lot of attention in the jungle, breakcore, and drum and bass scenes, and the LP sold out immediately after its release. VOODOOM's music was also played on BBC Radio in the UK, and they gained an enthusiastic fan base mainly in Europe. In 2016, VOODOOM contributed an original song created with the image of the manga to the official soundtrack "DOROHEDORO Original soundtrack" of the popular Japanese manga "Dorohedoro," and gained popularity in Japan as well. VOODOOM's unique work, which fuses influences from early to mid-90s UK jungle and darkcore with breakcore and drum and bass, and weaves in samples from horror movies to create evil and occult jungle tracks, combined with the Surinamese MCing of Dutch hip-hop artist Scapu Lox, remains popular to this day, with a core fanbase all over the world. Elements of doom metal, dark jazz, horrorcore, and darkstep, which Bong-Ra and Deformer each created, are reflected throughout, and their dark and tribal jungle sound is unlike anything else and highly addictive. The newly released best-of album, "Sacrificial Artefacts," includes tracks from "VOODOOM," released on LP in 2015, and the 12" vinyl EP "Tribesmen," released in 2017, as well as "Blaka Smoko," which was contributed to the now out-of-print and hard-to-find "DOROHEDORO Original soundtrack," unreleased tracks, and a remix by the genius Bizzy B, a pioneer of UK jungle who has left behind numerous masterpieces. The artwork by Mike Redman, which makes the most of the CD format, is also a must-see. I think "Blaka Smoko" and "Voodoom" are particularly symbolic; Bong-Ra's earthy vibes and Deforme's tight beatwork drive are fused in just the right way, truly capturing the best of both worlds. There's a wide variety, so there are many songs I like, and I'd like to add a retro obi strip saying, "This is the definitive VOODOOM album!" K? Magic Noir 5. Drums Of Damballa 6.
