This time, too, the power metal, full of lyricism and aggression that was perfected on their masterpiece album \"Thundersteel\" (1988), explodes! Riot, an American heavy metal band that enjoys immense popularity here in Japan, was formed in 1975. \"Warrior,\" from their debut album \"Rock City,\" released in 1977, is an eternal masterpiece that it's safe to say no heavy metal fan is unfamiliar with. After releasing \"Narita\" (1979), \"Fire Down Under\" (1981), \"Restless Breed\" (1982), and \"Born in America\" ??(1983), they disbanded in 1984. In 1986, they reformed with a completely new lineup except for Mark Reale (G). Riot's 1988 comeback album, \"Thundersteel,\" which saw a dramatic increase in aggression, is widely regarded as a masterpiece. The addition of Don Van Stavern (B) of the cult speed metal band S.A.Slayer added speed and aggression to Riot's lyricism, creating a unique chemistry. They continued to be active successfully after that, but in 2012 they were struck by a great tragedy. The band's founder and leader, Mark Reale, suddenly passed away from a subarachnoid hemorrhage. Mike Flynnz (G) and Don Van Stavern, the remaining members, decided to carry on Mark's legacy and continue the band. In 2014 they released \"Unleash the Fire\" and also performed at Loud Park 14, impressing upon Japanese fans that Mark's spirit is immortal. Now, Riot is releasing their long-awaited new album, \"Mean Streets.\" This album, their 17th overall and their first in six years since \"Armor of Light,\" is, as expected, a blast of power metal brimming with lyricism and aggression, a style perfected in \"Thundersteel.\" Overflowing with energy and melancholic melodies that metal fans will find irresistible, this is a masterpiece that screams \"This is Riot, this is heavy metal.\" A must-have for any heavy metal fan. The mixing was handled by Bruno Ravel, bassist for Danger Danger. The Japanese edition includes a Blu-ray\/DVD featuring live footage from their 2018 performance at Metal Weekend, as well as a bonus disc containing previously unreleased tracks such as live recordings from the Mark Reale era and a Joe Lynn Turner solo vocal version of \"Killer\" (from The Privilege of Power (1990))!
