After their longest hiatus in the band's history?four years?this new album explodes with their signature energetic and melodic thrash metal. A must-listen for all thrash metal fans! Overkill is an East Coast thrash metal band that enjoys immense popularity in Japan. Formed in 1980 as Virgin Killer, they initially played a style that combined NWOBHM and punk rock aggression. They changed their name to Overkill in 1982 and debuted with a self-titled EP in 1984. The following year, they made their album debut with \"Feel the Fire\" on Megaforce Records, the label that discovered Metallica. In the thrash metal world, where spitting vocals were the norm, Overkill, with their high-pitched vocalist Bobby \"Blitz\" Ellsworth, attracted even orthodox metal fans and gained immense popularity. As a result, their second album, \"Taking Over,\" released in 1987, was released by the major label Atlantic. Since then, they have released an astonishing 19 albums. They have visited Japan many times, so there are undoubtedly many metal fans who have been overwhelmed by their powerful stage presence. Now, Overkill is releasing their 20th album, \"Scorched.\" It's been four years since their last album, \"Wings of War,\" was released in 2019. This is the longest gap in Overkill's history. \"I kept writing and discarding my parts. Even when mixing started, I was still changing my parts,\" says Bobby. They made the most of the dark period when they couldn't tour due to the pandemic, and carefully finished the album. That being said, there's no way that Overkill's direction has changed. Overkill is always Overkill. As always, it's energetic and melodic thrash metal featuring Bobby's powerful vocals. The mixing was handled by the legendary Colin Richardson. This marks Colin's first collaboration with Overkill in 20 years, since their 2013 album \"Killbox 13.\" Colin's \"modern old-school approach\" to the mix is ??also a highlight.
