A return to old-school thrash feeling, along with tribal percussion and symphonic arrangements. A miraculous fusion of primitiveness and sophistication that summarizes their career. Sepultura never goes back. The Japanese edition is a special edition that includes a 2-disc full live CD featuring a complete recording of their May 2018 Japan tour. Perhaps no other band has influenced so many subgenres of extreme metal as Sepultura. Brothers Max and Igor Cavalera formed Sepultura in 1984. Their split LP with fellow Brazilian band Overdose, \"Bestial Devastation\" (1985), and their debut album, \"Morbid Visions\" (1986), not only stunned many thrash fans with their unprecedented speed at the time, but also became legendary works that greatly influenced later black metal bands. Afterwards, with the addition of Andreas Kisser, who now holds the leadership position in the band, they produced albums such as \"Schizophrenia\" (1987), \"Beneath the Remain\" (1989), and \"Arise\" (1992), which are still loved by many fans as classic thrash\/death metal albums. Furthermore, with \"Chaos A.D.\" (1993) and \"Roots\" (1996), produced by Ross Robinson, they laid the foundation for what is known as groove metal. In the dark age of heavy metal in the 1990s, Sepultura did not conform to the times, but rather forged a new era themselves. After the release of \"Roots,\" Max left the band. He was replaced by the black vocalist Derrick Green. With the new lineup, they produced \"Against\" (1998), which developed the world music elements of \"Roots\" while strengthening the hardcore punk feel, strongly impressing fans with the birth of a new Sepultura. In 2006, drummer Igor left the band. After welcoming a new drummer and releasing the concept album \"A-LEX\" (2009), they moved to Nuclear Blast Records, one of Europe's largest labels. Their 2013 album \"The Mediator Between Head and Hands Must Be the Heart\" garnered attention as their first Ross Robinson-produced work in a long time. In 2016, they released \"Machine Messiah,\" which surprised fans by incorporating symphonic arrangements in addition to their signature elements of thrash, groove metal, and world music, showcasing a new progressive side. Three years after their previous album, they are now releasing their 15th studio album, \"Quadra.\" No thrasher could fail to be moved by Andreas Kisser's words: \"I was driven by an urge to revive the old-school thrash feeling of albums like 'Beneath the Remains' and 'Arise'.\" Of course, we're talking about Sepultura. This album is far from simply a retrospective. With its abundant use of tribal percussion, symphonic arrangements, and even choir and clean vocals, Sepultura once again impresses upon us that they are a band that is still evolving. The theme, inspired by John North's book \"Quadrivium,\" is the number \"4.\" The album is divided into four parts, each with its own musical characteristics: pure thrash, tribal, experimental, and melodic. Sepultura's magic lies in seamlessly blending dynamic death\/thrash parts with choir and tribal percussion. As Andreas says, \"You'll hear echoes of old Sepultura, but this is Sepultura in 2020?an experienced and refined beast.\" This album, which fuses intensity and sophistication at a high level, is a superb work that will satisfy both old and new fans. Following on from the previous album, Jens Bogren handled the mixing and production. A must-listen for all thrash metal fans.
