Contains 19 tracks in total, including 5 previously unreleased takes. Gino Roth, the younger brother of Uli Jon Roth. Sadly, Gino passed away in February 2018 at the young age of 61, but the many beautiful songs he created continue to move us. To keep the flame of life burning in these masterpieces and to deliver them to even more people, Michael Flexig, who participated in Gino (as a band) as the original vocalist, has now realized his wish in the album \"Keeper of the Flame\". This album is not simply a collection of songs. Michael had a strong desire to let people hear Zeno's masterpieces in their original, authentic sound. Compiled by him, this album includes many \"early versions\" of classic songs recorded during three sessions held before the production of their 1986 debut album, \"Zeno.\" Some of these have been heard before on unreleased track collections such as \"Zenology.\" However, according to Michael, these were advertised as \"remastered\" but were actually \"remixed,\" resulting in content that \"deviated from the band's original intentions.\" In this album, which focuses on recreating the original intentions, all tracks retain the original mixes. Only subtle mastering has been applied to achieve the optimal sound. Zeno's early recordings, which astonished many major labels at the time and led to extraordinary offers, have been revived in the 21st century, transcending time. But that's not all. This album also includes tracks from the 1987 session at Staccato Studios and from the 1990s sessions that culminated in their second album, \"Listen to the Light.\" This album boasts a total of 19 tracks, five of which are previously unreleased takes. Among them, the Michael Flexig vocal version of \"Is It Love\" is a rare and never-before-seen treasure. Furthermore, there are slight differences between the international and Japanese versions (tracks 9-11), with tracks 10 and 11 being particularly valuable takes only available on this Japanese edition. Gino had strong ties to Japan, and it's incredibly gratifying for fans to see these classic songs given new life by Michael Flexig. This album, which can be seen as a document of the period when Gino was at its peak in preparation for their debut album, reveals their pure approach to music as artists. To reiterate, \"Keeper of the Flame\" is far from a simple compilation album. Even long-time Gino fans will undoubtedly find it a completely new listening experience. It also includes track-by-track commentary by Michael Flexig himself.
