Their vocal style was close to what is now called growl, and these works are considered cult classics as very early death metal works. In 1987, they made their album debut with \"Season of the Dead\". Released on New Renaissance Records, this album is a unique masterpiece, featuring Killjoy calmly narrating a horror story against a backdrop of strangely dramatic riffs, and remains a classic that continues to captivate many fans. However, the band disbanded in 1987, the same year the album was released. The driving force behind Necrophagia's sensational comeback was none other than Phil Anselmo. Phil was originally an underground extreme metal enthusiast, and since both Killjoy and Phil were boxing fans, the two quickly became close and began plotting the band's revival. In 1998, the album \"Holocausto de la Morte,\" featuring Phil on guitar, was released and became a huge sensation. And rightly so, as the frontman of Pantera joining a cult death metal band was bound to generate buzz. Furthermore, in 1999, they released \"Through Eyes of the Dead,\" a video work that resembled a horror movie. They released two EPs in quick succession, \"Black Blood Vomitorium\" (2000) and \"Cannibal Holocaust\" (2001), but the close relationship between Phil Anselmo and Killjoy, two individuals with such strong personalities, was perhaps unsurprisingly short-lived. Phil then faded out of the band. Incidentally, the musical styles of \"Season of the Dead\" and \"Holocausto de la Morte\" are quite different. This is because Killjoy never writes (or can't write) songs, so songwriting is always left to the guitarist. It's Necrophagia's style that the band's musical style changes drastically when the guitarist changes. Necrophagia continued to perform even after Phil's departure. Various musicians joined and left the band. And each time, Necrophagia's musical style changed to a greater or lesser extent. Then an unexpected ending came for them. In March 2018, Killjoy passed away suddenly from a heart attack. Even though he didn't write the songs, Killjoy was the face of the band and held the key to its concept. His death meant the death of the band.
