The initial impetus for this project came when Dregen (G) of BACKYARD BABIES and Nicke (Vo\/G) of ENTOMBED performed at a Stockholm festival in 1991. They bonded over their shared love of KISS, which led to discussions about starting a new project. The two, who met in 1991, formed the band in 1994 with Kenny (B) and Robert (Ds), taking their name from a newspaper headline about THE HELLACOPTERS. In June 1996, they released their first album, \"SUPERSHITTY TO THE MAX!\", which garnered significant attention from publications such as the British magazine Kerrang! and the German magazine Metal Hammer, and their presence began to permeate the European rock scene. Subsequently, this work received more acclaim than expected, including an award at the Swedish Grammy Awards. The band also toured as THE HELLACOPTERS, and in June 1997, they opened for KISS at their Swedish concert. In January 1998, their first and second albums were released simultaneously in Japan, and around this time, Nicke announced his departure from ENTOMBED to focus on THE HELLACOPTERS. The band continued to be active smoothly, but Dregen left in April of the same year due to his busy schedule with his own band, BACKYARD BABIES. After several member changes, in May 1999, they welcomed pianist Anders Boba Lindstr?m as an official member and released their third album, GRAND ROCK. Robert Dahlqvist (G) joined the band for the tour accompanying this album, and the lineup became fixed. They subsequently released three more albums and performed in Japan three times, but announced their disbandment in 2007. In February 2008, they released their seventh and final album, \"Head Off,\" and in October, they held a farewell concert in their native Sweden, bringing their activities to an end. After that, they reunited several times for live performances only, but in April 2022, Nicke, Robert, Boba, and original member Dregen will release their first new album in 14 years, \"Eyes of Oblivion.\" Media reviews and more Since their disbandment in 2008, they have reunited several times for live performances only, but now they are releasing a new album after 14 years!
