Sprague Water Memory / Mount Vision (Special Japanese Edition: 2CD) Jap

Product Description
Contents Introduction Two ambient works by the highly acclaimed ambient artist Emily A. Sprague, which were independently released on cassette and immediately sold out, are now being remastered and with bonus tracks added! A dreamy/infinite utopian soundscape that traverses ambient and new age using synthesizers! The Japanese edition features an original paper jacket with original artwork and is a 2-disc set with a bonus disc! Emily Sprague, the frontwoman of the Brooklyn lo-fi folk/pop band Florist, handles vocals, guitar, synthesizers, and more, and has released works on Double Double Whammy, the label that has also launched the careers of Mitski, Frankie Cosmos, and Hatchie. Two ambient works, "Water Memory" and "Mount Vision," which she recorded and self-released between band activities in 2017 and 2018, have been remastered and given bonus tracks for physical release by RVNG Intl., a cutting-edge New York label that recognized her talent. Emily's sound is connected to all relationships, giving a vibrant central form to the mystical force that guides human connection to earthly activities. Through sound and poetry, Emily focuses on fleeting moments of crystal-clear transparency, meditating on life expanded for complex meaning-making. This vision is undeniably beautiful, gentle, and profound. As the titles "Sea" and "Mount" suggest, these two works have a mirror-like structure, functioning as two chapters complemented by written poetry. "Water Memory" is Emily's first long-form instrumental ambient music, born from a year of self and sonic exploration between Massachusetts and New York, using Eurorack modular synthesizers (Monome, Mannequins, Mutable Instruments, ALM Bust Circuits, 4ms, Xaoc, Verbos Electronics), Teenage Engineering OP1, and Valhalla VST Reverb. It unfolds like an ancient collection of proverbs. At times playful, even fantastical, but always glittering and real. As the title suggests, the meaning is watery ? never too rigid, always tangible. In contrast, "Mount Vision" was recorded in Northern California over a shorter period. It's a sound that seems to float to the heavens, with a composition of deeply placed, expanded tones utilizing synthesizers. It consists of three pieces: New Age-influenced synth drones, sensitive piano, and minimal ambient. Emily's mission on this planet is to facilitate, or illuminate, the connection between humanity's deepest knowledge and intellectual nature. And "Water Memory" and "Mount Vision" are certainly the most monumental works along this shared path. Taylor Deupree handled the remastering for this release. In addition to bonus tracks, the Japanese edition also includes Japanese versions of the poems Emily wrote for each album, recited in Japanese by Kiki Kudo, a Japanese artist/writer based in New York who also releases works on Anthony Naples' label Incienso.
