Originally built in 1927 as a film studio with a theater, the building was renovated and reopened as a hotel in 2014. Many of the musicians participating in this album are people who became friends through ACE JAM, a platform where they make music together. Mocky says he called musicians in LA, and once he had confirmed who could participate, he started sketching songs with their individual styles in mind. In addition to Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, Joey Dosik (who plays brass instruments here, not keyboards!), and Nia Andrews, who are indispensable to Mocky's recent works, the album also features first-time appearances by musicians who are currently building impressive careers based in LA, such as keyboardist Delon Johnson (Miles Davis's \"Doo Bop\"), brass player Randall Fisher (Kadhja Bonet, Dexter Story, etc.), bassist Brandon Eugene Owens (Kendrick Lamar, Robert Glasper, Gaby Hernandez, Terrace Martin, Mia Doi Todd, etc.), and Mark de Clive Lowe, who is probably well-known in Japan through his numerous works. This new album is reminiscent of their 2009 fourth album, \"SASKAMODIE.\" If the time that permeated that album, recorded in Paris, was nighttime, this new album has the feel of a slumbering afternoon in LA.
