Youth of Light (Live At Cara) In 2010, Kurt Rosenwinkel released the masterpiece and ambitious work \"Our Secret World\" as a new challenge in collaboration with a large ensemble. This album is known for its collaboration with \"Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos (OJM),\" a top contemporary big band from Portugal, and for showing new horizons by expressing his past works with new arrangements and worldviews. Although there were several opportunities to perform with OJM after this recording, they reunited 12 years later in 2021 for a live recording, which is finally being released. In recent years, Kurt Rosenwinkel has continued his creative activities in many areas, including guest appearances on Domi \u0026amp; JD Beck's albums, energetic releases from his own Heartcore label, a reunion concert with Shun Ishiwaka, and a reunion tour with the legendary quartet The Next Step. On this live album, everyone plays compositions with Kurt's signature intricate structure with superb arrangements. The tracks include the great song M4, M1 from 'Heartcore', M2 from 'The Enemies of Energy', and the live staple M3, showcasing his nuanced yet relentlessly solid guitar playing, which is further enhanced by the wonderful arrangements by OJM's music director Pedro Guedes and pianist Carlos Azevedo. Founded in Porto in 1997, OJM serves as Portugal's national jazz orchestra and is particularly renowned worldwide for its collaborative works with solo artists. Past collaborators include Maria Schneider, Carla Bley, Lee Konitz, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Mark Turner, Joshua Redman, Fred Hirsch, Rebecca Martin, Maria Rita, and many others. Since 2018, they have operated CARA, a recording studio\/performance center in Porto that promotes multidisciplinary projects. This live recording was made at CARA.
