Stripped of embellishments and sharply appealing to instinct, this is the band's most intense and raw masterpiece to date! Fallujah is a progressive\/technical death metal band from San Francisco. When they formed in 2007, the members were still in high school. In 2009, they self-produced and released an EP called \"Leper Colony,\" and also went on a US tour, actively pursuing their career. As a result, they caught the eye of Unique Leader Records, the mecca of technical death metal, and released their debut album \"The Harvest Wombs\" in 2011. Incidentally, Unique Leader Records is a label founded by Eric Lindmark, the kingpin of the California technical death metal scene and the late Deeds of Flesh, who sadly passed away last year. Fallujah's 2013 EP, \"-Nomadic-,\" followed by their 2014 second album, \"The Flesh Prevails,\" garnered significant global attention, leading the band to sign with Nuclear Blast Records, currently one of the largest labels in the extreme metal scene. Their 2016 third album, \"Dreamless,\" released by Nuclear Blast, also generated considerable buzz here in Japan. While I initially described Fallujah's style as \"progressive\/technical death metal,\" describing their style is not easy. There's no doubt it's \"progressive\" and \"technical\" \"death metal,\" but \"Dreamless\" in particular, with its use of synthesizers and female vocals, and its strong digital, post-rock feel, there were many elements that made it difficult to express in a single word. However, their fourth album, \"Undying Light,\" which is being released now, is somewhat different. Regarding this album, which was made with Antonio Palermo replacing Alex Hoffman, the vocalist who had been with the band since 2007, guitarist and main songwriter Scott Carstairs describes as \"raw\" and \"new.\" To put it simply, while the previous album \"introduced various instruments such as clean vocals and synthesizers,\" this time they aimed for a \"more raw and honest sound.\" Scott confidently declares, \"'Undying Light' is something entirely different, and this album is a statement about the band Fallujah and its future. This work is the real sound we have polished,\" and indeed, compared to the previous work, one can feel that it is moving closer to a more straightforward style. Of course, this is still by Fallujah standards. Their music remains technical and progressive. With Mark Lewis as engineer, just like the previous album, 'Undying Light' is the most intense work in Fallujah's history. With this album, which strikes a superb balance between being technical and progressive yet instinctive, Fallujah will appeal to a wider audience and gain even more fans.
