It lacks the mainstream appeal of music that could be listened to in a living room; it's anti-commercial, authentic country music by outlaws. Outlaw country, whose realistic lyrics resonated deeply with music fans and led to a massive surge in popularity, gained prominence in the 1970s as \"punk music of the poor white class in the American South.\" Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Johnny Cash are representative artists, but even Bob Dylan was influenced by outlaw country. One musician who was deeply impressed by outlaw country is Dez Fafara. \"I'd been listening to outlaw country since I was a kid because of my parents, but what really got me hooked was touring with Pantera. They would often jam on outlaw country songs on their tour bus. What was so cool was the incredible realism in the lyrics.\" The lineup of guest artists who supported the band's bold challenge is also remarkably impressive. The album opens with Hank Williams III, grandson of Hank Williams, singing his own song, \"Country Heroes.\" Next up is Willie Nelson's \"Whiskey River,\" featuring Randy Blythe and Mark Morton (Lamb of God). Also contributing are Wednesday 13 (who releases outlaw country music under the name Bourbon Crow), Brock Lindo (36 Crazy Fists), Burton C. Bell (Fear Factory), and, surprisingly, Lee Ving, the vocalist and guitarist of the legendary punk rock band Fear, whom Dez considers a hero. And it's worth noting that John Carter Cash, son of Johnny Cash, was invited to contribute, as he considered him an essential part of this project. The producers are Steve Ebbets, who has worked with The Dillinger Escape Plan, Sepultura, Suicide Silence, and The Architects, and the band's guitarist, Mike. \"Outlaws 'til The End\" is a work in which the band's signature massive groove and dynamic, brutal sound are brilliantly fused with outlaw country.
