A challenge to unattainable levels and the maturity of a maestro! Al Di Meola's guitar brings us new surprises and emotions! Al Di Meola joined Return to Forever in 1974, attracting attention as a 19-year-old guitar prodigy. Starting his solo career with \"The White Nights\" (1976), he has gained immense support for his incredibly fast lead playing and his genre-transcending musicality encompassing jazz\/fusion, rock, and world music. In 1981, he formed the \"Super Guitar Trio\" with John McLaughlin and Paco de Luc?a, and has been recognized as one of the world's greatest guitarists. \"Opus,\" which Al declares to be \"an album that colors a new chapter in my life,\" is a work that delves into his aspect as a composer. Regarding this album, which he describes as \"I'll probably be seen as a 'composer and guitarist,' rather than 'guitarist and composer',\" he says, \"This is the first time in my life I've written music in such a happy state.\" \"I have a wonderful relationship with my wife, and we've had a daughter. I get inspiration every day from my amazing family, and that comes through in my music.\" In \"Broken Heart\" (a remake of a song from \"Fly Me to the Sky\" [1985]), for which a music video was released in advance, he showcases emotionally charged electric lead playing over acoustic backing. Numbers such as \"Cereto Sannita\" and \"Left Unsaid\" are sprinkled with exquisite melodies, and Al pours all his emotions into them. \"Ava's Dream Sequence Lullaby,\" which is over 10 minutes long and dedicated to his two-year-old daughter Ava, was also played at his concert in Japan in September 2017, and will long be remembered as one of the most beautiful songs Al has ever written. You can also hear his piercing, fast-paced playing on this track. While Al's acoustic and electric guitars are undoubtedly the \"stars\" of this album, the inclusion of jazz pianist Kemuel Roig on three tracks, along with drums and percussion throughout, creates a captivating and dynamic overall sound. The album cover art features the coat of arms of the Di Meola family, whose roots lie in Cerreto Sannita, a small town near Naples, Italy. Although Al himself was born in America, the artwork is fitting for this album, which depicts the origins of his soul through his guitar playing. The album's title, \"OPUS,\" is as simple as it gets, yet it is overflowing with emotion and technique. [Includes Japanese liner notes] [Track Listing (tentative)] 01. Milonga Noctiva feat.
