Soulful vocals and catchy guitar phrases come alive over a straightforward and simple performance stripped of all unnecessary elements! River Dogs' charm explodes in this fourth studio album, \"California,\" their first in six years! Their heartwarming, superb hard rock sound is still going strong! Vivian Campbell, guitarist of the globally popular band Def Leppard, also pursues musical activities with Last in Line and River Dogs. A guitarist from Belfast, Northern Ireland, Vivian Campbell formed Sweet Savage in 1978 and started his career in 1981 by independently releasing two singles, including \"Take No Prisoners.\" In 1983, he joined Dio, the band newly formed by Ronnie James Dio after he left Black Sabbath. He became an instant guitar hero after participating in three original albums. In 1987, he appeared in the music video for Whitesnake's \"Still of the Night\" and toured with Adrian Vandenberg in a twin-guitar lineup, but left the band without participating in any recordings. Around that time, Vivian was asked to produce River Dogs, and eventually joined the band as their guitarist. River Dogs' sound is characterized by simple, straightforward hard rock with all the unnecessary elements stripped away. Their debut album, \"River Dogs,\" was released in 1990. At the time, the rock scene was seeing a surge of musicians aiming for a \"back to roots\" approach, and River Dogs' music reflected the atmosphere of that era. Inspired by this sound, Vivian decided to join. His playing style also shifted from the rough playing that heavily utilized pinch harmonics in his early days to a more subdued style, demonstrating his versatility. The album was well-received, remastered and reissued in 2004, and is still considered a masterpiece. However, Vivian soon left the band to form Shadow King with Lou Gramm (formerly of Foreigner), releasing one album. After touring with Def Leppard from 1992, he became an official member and remains with the band to this day. After Vivian's departure, River Dogs released \"Absolutely Live\" (1992) and \"Bone\" (1993), but their activities dwindled and they eventually disbanded. However, in 2003, the members of River Dogs reunited. It took some time for the release, but in 2011 they released \"World Gone Mad.\" And now, their latest album, \"California,\" their fourth studio album overall, has been released. The band's lineup on this album is the same four members who recorded that masterpiece debut album. Bassist Nick Brophy is an American mixer, engineer, producer, and songwriter who has been involved in numerous works. He's a top-notch studio professional who's worked on famous albums like The Rolling Stones' \"40 Licks\" and Avril Lavigne's mega-hit \"Let Go.\" Of course, he also produced this album. Drummer Mark Dunzaysen played with the American hard rock band Little Caesar in 1992, and in 1994 he recorded and toured with Gilby Clarke (Guns N' Roses). He's also a musician who's been involved in producing TV commercials and songwriting. And then there's vocalist Rob Ramos. His excellent singing, and the fact that he's had many solo works, is another of Riverdogs' charms. His voice evokes the dry American wind and the earth, and intertwines with the melancholic phrases that seep from Vivian's guitar, who hails from Ireland. This combination creates Riverdogs' originality. In this latest album, \"California,\" Rob's soulful and heartwarming vocals and Vivian's catchy phrases are once again effective throughout. It's an album you'll want to listen to again and again.
