In August 2016, it was revealed that Warbringer was working on their fifth album. The lineup consisted of John Kevill (vocals), Adam Carroll (guitar), who rejoined the band at the end of 2013, former DESECRATE member Chase Becker (guitar), Jesse Sanchez (bass), who became a full member after previously being a live performer, and Carlos Cruz (drums). On December 13th of the same year, it was officially announced that their first album under Napalm Records, \"Wo to the Vanquished,\" would be released on March 31st, 2017. The Japanese edition will be released ahead of schedule on March 29th. The album was produced by Mike Plotnikoff, who has worked with FEAR FACTORY and IN FLAMES, and the artwork is by Andreas Marshall, known for his work with KREATOR, SODOM, BLIND GUARDIAN, OBITUARY, and IN FLAMES. Half of the album consists of what could be described as their most merciless and brutal tracks to date, a fusion of classic thrash metal and modern extreme metal, while the other half features epic and melodic masterpieces. The main part of the album concludes with the epic 11-minute song \"When The Guns Fell Silent.\" The lyrics often deal with themes of war, history, and the karma of humanity. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, WARBRINGER is scheduled to begin a tour on the European continent in support of their new masterpiece, \"Wo to the Vanquished.\" Warbringer was formed in 2004 in Ventura, California, centered around John Kevill (vocals) and the Lau brothers, John (guitar) and Andy (bass). In 2006, they released their self-produced EP \"ONE BY ONE, THE WICKED FALL,\" which garnered attention and led to a contract with Century Media, and they began working on their debut album. Their debut album, \"WAR WITHOUT END,\" released in February 2008, was well-received in various circles, and they had the opportunity to play as support for bands such as EXODUS, OVERKILL, NAPALM DEATH, SUFFOCATION, and NILE. In August 2008, they also performed at WACKEN OPEN AIR, the world's largest heavy metal festival. In 2009, they began recording their second album, with Gary Holt, the guitarist of EXODUS, who had supported them on their tour after the release of their first album, serving as producer. The completed album, titled \"WAKING INTO NIGHTMARES,\" was released in May 2009, but even before its release, they resumed live performances, touring with bands like EXODUS, KREATOR, and SOILWORK. However, during the tour with EXODUS and KREATOR, drummer Nick slipped on the ice and fractured his elbow, forcing EPICUREAN's Jon Gensmer to fill in as a temporary member. In June of the same year, after a European tour as a headliner, they toured the UK supporting TESTAMENT and ONSLAUGHT. Subsequently, in 2010, they embarked on a European tour in collaboration with EVILE, and after returning to the US, participated in OVERKILL's \"KILLFEST TOUR.\" Then, in May of the same year, they visited Asia for the first time, performing at \"EXTREME THE DOJO VOL.24\" in Japan alongside MUNICIPAL WASTE and TOXIC HOLOCAUST. After completing their tour for \"WAKING INTO NIGHTMARES,\" they returned to their hometown and began writing songs for their third album, but were forced to change members again. Drummer Nick, who had joined before the production of \"WAKING INTO NIGHTMARES,\" decided to pursue a career in medicine, which he had aspired to since his student days, and requested to leave the band. He was replaced by Carlos Cruz of HEXEN. At the beginning of 2011, they began working on their third album, recording with Steve Ebbets, who had worked with Sepultura, Dillinger Escape Plan, and M.O.D., and completed the album \"WORLD TORN ASUNDER.\" In 2013, they entered the studio with Steve Ebbets again to begin recording their fourth album, and \"IV: EMPIRES COLLAPSE\" was released in October of that year.
