Dre's World Mark Adams is from Baltimore, Maryland. He began piano lessons at the age of 5 from his mother, Velma, who was a music teacher. At the age of 12, he moved to New York City and grew up watching his father, Kenneth, a woodwind player active on Broadway. He then studied classical and jazz music at New York University, starting his career as a pianist. After graduating in 1991, he was selected to join Roy Ayers' band, and for over 20 years, he served as the band's musical director, performing over 1000 live shows worldwide and participating in albums. As a soloist, he has consistently released albums, starting with \"Asceticism\" in 2001, followed by \"Embellishments\" in 2011, and \"Conversations\" in 2013. He has also toured with many renowned artists such as Ron Carter, Hugh Masekela, Lou Rolls, and Lalah Hathaway, and collaborated with R\u0026amp;B artists like Erykah Badu, Mary J. Blige, and Queen Latifah. He has also appeared in numerous Broadway musicals.
