The Lostines Sabine McCalla was born and raised in New York to parents who were Haitian immigrants and dedicated themselves to their status and human rights. Her older sister, Leyla McCalla, is a member of Carolina Chocolate Drops and has already debuted as a solo artist. Growing up surrounded by music, she began playing classical violin and piano at music camp and in music conservatory classes at the age of eight. Later, she moved to New Orleans with her sister to pursue a career in music. She absorbed influences from Motown, Bob Marley, The Beatles, and Haitian folk music, creating her own unique sound. After guest appearances on her sister's album and other projects, she debuted in 2018 with the 5-track EP \"Folk.\" She has also been active as a solo artist and in various collaborations with other artists, and has performed at many folk festivals, including the New Orleans Jazz Heritage.
