Born in 1941 as the third of four Neville brothers, he pursued a career in music influenced by his older brother Art. After several years as a member of the vocal group Avalons, he joined The Hocketts, formed in 1952 by Art. In 1960, he made his solo debut with \"Over You,\" produced by Allen Toussaint, and \"Tell It Like It Is\" (1966) reached number one on the US R\u0026amp;B charts. In 1977, he formed The Neville Brothers with his brothers Art and Charles and his younger brother Cyril, and won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance for \"Yellow Moon\" (1989). He also continued his solo career, and his duets with Linda Ronstadt, \"Don't Know Much\" and \"All My Life\" (1989), won the Grammy Award for Best Duo. He has continued to release albums consistently since then, with total sales exceeding 25 million copies.
