He debuted in 1984 with \"Midnight Mission,\" instantly becoming a sensation (the band also included Kathy Valentine, who would later become a member of The Go-Go's). After the band disbanded, he steadily released solo and duo albums. His Chrissie Hynde-esque vocals and roots rock-influenced guitar sound made him popular. He has close ties with big names such as The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, and The Byrds, releasing \"So Rebellious A Lover\" with Gene Clark in 1987 and \"Live At the Roxy\" with Mick Taylor in 1990. As a solo artist, he released \"Ruby's and Diamonds\" in 1988 and \"Reap the Whirlwind\" in 1994, featuring Mick Taylor and Percy Sledge, both of which garnered attention. His latest work is \"Have Harmony, Will Travel\" from 2013.
