He started playing guitar in his teens and began his professional career in the 1970s. In the 1980s, he joined The Dynatones and made his major debut with Warner. Using that experience, he led his own band in San Francisco in the 1990s. In 1993, he released \"S.F. Blues Guitar Summit Vol. III\" with his close friend Johnny Nitro and others through the Blues Bureau. In 1994, he made his solo debut with the self-produced album \"No Foolin'.\" In 1995, he won numerous music awards for \"Exception To The Rule,\" released by Blind Pig. Since then, he has consistently released albums on various labels. In 2009, he signed with Alligator and released \"Hard Believer,\" which again won many music awards.
