At the age of 20, he moved to the United States and studied violin at Berklee College of Music. While there, he won numerous awards, including the Berklee Elvin Jones Award. After graduating in 2003, he was selected as a band member for Stanley Clarke at the recommendation of Jean-Luc Ponty. He toured the world, including at the Newport Jazz Festival. He later joined the Turtle Island Quartet, winning Grammy Awards for two albums, \"4+Four\" in 2006 and \"A Love Supreme\" in 2008. In 2007, he formed his own band, the Mads Tolling Trio, releasing \"Speed ??of Light\" in 2008, and then \"The Playmaker\" as a quartet in 2009. He has also participated in albums by R\u0026amp;B singer Teena Marie and jazz vocalist Anne Hampton Caraways, among others. As a composer, he is a highly skilled artist who has provided numerous songs to various artists.
