In the early 1980s, he moved to San Francisco and joined the psychedelic desert rock band Green on Red as a guitarist. He was active with the band from 1985's \"Gas Food Lodging\" until their breakup in 1992. In 1990, he released his first solo album, \"Brother Aido.\" Since then, he has consistently released albums on labels such as New West and Yeprock, including \"Homemade Blood\" (1997), \"No Other Love\" (2002), and \"Night Surfer\" (2014). As a guitarist, he has backed Aimee Mann, Warren Zevon, and Lucinda Williams, and collaborated with veterans such as Dan Penn and Jim Dickinson.
