Medley: Monologue \u0026amp; Greyhound Blues: Robert Pete Williams was born in 1914 into a poor farming family in Zachary, Louisiana. Influenced by Blind Lemon Jefferson and others, he began singing at small events. However, in 1956, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder. While serving his sentence at Louisiana State Prison, he was discovered singing by folklorist Harry Oster and recorded. This recording led to a pardon and his release in 1958. After that, he gradually gained popularity, and his appearance at the 1964 Newport Folk Festival led to tours in the United States and Europe. In the 1970s, he also performed at the Ann Arbor Blues Festival. He also appeared in a blues-themed documentary film. His first recording was in 1959, with five tracks included on the compilation album \"Angola Prisoner's Blues.\" Since then, he has released numerous albums on various labels, including \"Free Again\" (1961), \"Louisiana Blues\" (1966), and \"Robert Pete Williams\" (1971). His signature song, \"I've Grown So Ugly,\" has been covered by bands such as The Black Keys.
