We?fre Still Here Dave Alvin was born in 1955. Raised in Downey, California, he formed the roots rock band The Blasters with his brother. Starting with \"American Music\" in 1980, they released five albums. After leaving the band, he made his solo debut in 1987 with \"Romeo's Escape.\" Since then, he has consistently released more than a dozen albums. In 2014, he and his brother Phil released \"Common Ground,\" their first collaboration in about 30 years, which was nominated for a Grammy. Jimmy Dale Gilmour, on the other hand, is a country singer born in Amarillo, Texas in 1945 and raised in Lubbock. He formed The Flatlanders in 1972. They recorded the album \"More a Legend Than a Band,\" but it was never officially released and the band disbanded (it was reissued in 1991). He moved to Austin, Texas, and made his solo debut in 1988 with \"Fair and Square.\" Since then, three of his albums, including \"Spinning Around the Sun\" in 1993, have been nominated for Grammys. He has also appeared in the movie \"The Big Lebowski\" and contributed to its soundtrack.
