I Feel Like I Wanta Cry (Demo) Johnny Copeland was born in Louisiana in 1937. Influenced by T-Bone Walker, he started playing guitar and moved to Houston, Texas, where he formed the Dukes of Rhythm. He made his first recording in 1956. In 1958, he made his solo debut with the single \"Rock And Roll Lily\" on Mercury. In the 1960s, he consistently released singles such as \"Please Let Me Know\" on All Boy in 1962 and \"Down On Bending Knees\" on Golden Eagle in 1963. After that, he released many singles on various labels such as Jet Stream, Wand, Atlantic, and Zephyr. He moved to New York in 1976 and signed with Rounder Records. His debut album, \"Copeland Special,\" released in 1981, won the WC Handy Award, instantly raising his profile. He continued to release albums consistently thereafter, including \"Texas Twister\" in 1984. In 1985, his collaboration with Albert Collins and Robert Cray, \"Show Down!\", won a Grammy Award. After his breakthrough, he toured the world and performed at various festivals, but he died of heart disease in 1997 at the age of 60.
