She wrote her first song, \"Our Town,\" at the age of 25. In 1992, she released her debut album, \"Infamous Angel.\" The song \"Let the Mystery Be\" was used in the movie \"Little Buddha.\" Her albums \"My Life\" (1994) and \"The Way I Should\" (1996) were nominated for Grammy Awards. Her songs, which sing about the essence of humanity, have been used in many TV dramas and movies and have been covered many times. In 1999, she participated in four songs on John Prine's album \"In Spite of Ourselves,\" performing duets. She has also made guest appearances on many other albums by artists such as Steve Earle and Emmylou Harris.
