After returning to Canada, he played in bands such as Children and Olives, before making his solo debut in 1970 with his self-titled album, *Bruce Cockburn*. In 1971, he released his second album, *High Winds White Sky*, which was his debut in Japan. These early works are still loved today as classic folk-rock albums. He continued to consistently release folky albums until the mid-1970s, winning numerous awards in Canada and establishing a solid position in the music scene. His 1979 album \"Dancing in the Dragon's Jaws\" was a hit in the US, leading to appearances on shows like Saturday Night Live.
