Raised in a music-loving family, she learned singing and recording from her brother. She honed her skills as a backing vocalist for popular Canadian artists such as Bedouin Soundclash and Isis Salaam of Thunderheist, before returning to Toronto and releasing her debut EP \"What? What! What?!\" (2010) under the name Miss Charles. Her subsequent singles, \"Soul Run\" (2015) and \"Two Steps\" (2016), were included in Canada's CBC playlist and reached the top 20 on the radio charts. In 2017, she released her first album, \"Soul Run,\" which included both songs, on the Italian soul\/funk label Record Kicks.
