He began his professional career at the age of 17 and in 1969, he was invited by Duane Allman to form the Allman Brothers Band. Their 1971 live album, \"At Fillmore East,\" was a huge hit, but Duane died in an accident. Betts then took the lead in completing \"Eat a Peach,\" which was still being recorded, and released it in 1972. After that, he led the band as leader, songwriter, and vocalist. However, due to a conflict with Greg Allman, Betts released his first solo album, \"Highway Call,\" in 1974, and the band disbanded in 1976. He quickly formed a new band and released \"Dickey Betts \u0026amp; the Great Southern\" in 1977 and \"Atlanta's Burning Down\" in 1978. Afterwards, the Allman Brothers Band reunited and released several albums, but disbanded again in 1982. This time, he released \"Pattern Disruptive\" in 1988 as the Dickey Betts Band.
