COMMENT \"I decided to compose music for each episode of this work when I met with the animation production team in November 2022. I had long hoped for an opportunity to follow the example of American TV series, where the composer takes the lead in spotting (deciding where to place the music), and progresses with the composition while having weekly discussions with the director and producer. At the same time, as someone who has only been involved in animation works a handful of times, I also had a strong interest in the entire animation production process. Long before the actual voice recording began, that is, before the animation started moving, I was able to write the script...\" I started composing based on that. They were short pieces, less than two minutes long, but I wrote about 40 of them. I had the production team listen to them, got their feedback, and gradually grasped the overall worldview...or so I thought. However, after all the production was finished, only two of them were actually used in the final product. I think the reason for this is that the thoughts I got from reading the original work and script and the interest I got from the storyboards drawn by the director were somewhat different in my mind. I say \"I think\" vaguely because, in reality, I wasn't thinking about it in such a logical way during the composition process; rather, it was closer to a feeling of entrusting myself to my body's reactions. If the information I receive is different, then what is created from it will also be different. As many viewers may know, in TV anime, the director in charge is different for each episode. In this work, there are eight strong directors, each in charge of two or three episodes, making up the total of 20 episodes. What I found interesting throughout the entire process was that the nuances of each director's direction were different, and my reaction to the music changed accordingly. Now, during the production of these 20 episodes, the biggest challenge for me was grasping the \"color\" of the work from the black-and-white \"V-con\" shared among the staff. How are the hand-drawn storyboards combined with the character designs? How are the background designs decided? What kind of colors does Mr. Kosei, the color designer, give to the four princesses' kimonos, and how is the framework of that concept designed? Thanks to the kindness of the production team, I was able to visit the site several times and deepen my understanding. Needless to say, that opportunity was extremely valuable in writing the music that actively supports the direction from behind the scenes. That understanding became a new experience and greatly helped me in writing the music.
